Here’s the quote from ‘Under Milkwood’ about the draper, and his glorious list of fabrics which has been going round and round in my head as I’ve been sewing the last few days. It is a poem to the beautiful music of traditional fabric names. I photographed the wonderful draper sign recently in Penrith – a true cloth hall of the world.
Mog Edwards ….. to Myfanwy Price …….
‘I am a draper mad with love. I love you more than all the
flannelette and calico, candlewick, dimity, crash and merino,
tussore, cretonne, crepon, muslin, poplin, ticking and twill
in the whole Cloth Hall of the world.’
